Rolex two tone model

Hi Thurgood,

First off, watch purchases are a highly personal experience as i'm sure you are aware and therefore should invoke a certain level of emotion and enjoyment through the consumer who is wearing the watch. Its like they say, you can't please everyone! It comes down to what YOU like. Now in terms of resale value you will almost always find a demand for SS or solid gold over two tone models due to the market demand for straight metals vs mixed. There is a certain stigma attached to wearing anything with yellow gold these days, a view that is seen as being something only older people wear. I am under 30 and I own a SS datejust 2 and I love it. The two tone model is very dressy and perhaps not as versatile as SS in terms of the look. If you enjoy the dressier/mature look then by all means keep it, if not get rid of it but be forewarned on the 2nd hand market expect to take a hit when you sell it. Just some food for thought...

When i was in my late-teens, there was this girl who had a thing for me. She wasn't bad looking, but she wasn't that great either. All of my friends kept on going on about the fact that she wasn't that good looking. Well, being in my late-teens, shallow a...

I will never bosh a pimped Rolex.

... your question makes me think if you buy your watches as per your own taste, or trying to please the tastes of friends or third parties. If you bought this one, and say you love its looks, dial color, etc., you really wouldn´t mind too much about what ...

I like the slate dial, the green numerals, I actually like the TT since it add a bit of elegance to the watch and I can also wear it everyday. I buy a watch for my own enjoyment, and seldom care about how people think about my purchase. If I were you, I w...

I think your watch looks great!

My philosophy in acquiring watches has been to go to the strength of a manufacturer and the watch you have here certainly fits that bill. It is a design which has been around for some time as well as the Sub, GMT, Explorer, etc. I would suspect your frien...

and add another at some point to contrast it. You will take a hit to sell it. FWIW, Rolex started the two tone look and all the others followed, they no longer make them but Rolex still does. Its a fine tradition and will last longer than us, I think.

We have the same taste ...

I bought mine last year before the price increase. I was lucky to get this one as it was a bit difficult to source at the onset. I love the slate dial and the green Roman numerals, fitting to the Rolex color and my Alma Mater. I bought this also because i...
