Lots of variations to choose from! That gold one certainly fits the bill

I think my favorite one is the old ceramic one, which seems to be out of production now. The black one in the picture is actually carbon.

They'll say it's for "purity" of the design and for bracelet counter-balancing. They'll probably also say that many brands have watches with hollow gold bracelets, Rolex especially for decades, until around 15 years ago.

It is also true that the cost of gold is negligible compared to the price of the watch.

There's probably only 2-3 ounces of pure gold in the entire watch! Very negligible.

For me, as much as I love the model, it is still too big (wide) for my wrist, that's my problem. Otherwise, I would have bought one already.

But my feeling in person is slightly different.
