Sotirio Bulgari 125 Anniversary Edition

Introduced at Baselworld last year, Bulgari watchmakers created the new Sotirio Bulgari collection to commemorate their 125th anniversary with three editions of 125 watches in pink gold, yellow gold and white gold.
This is the first time I've had an opportunity to see one in person.  This yellow gold version is 42mm in diameter and 11.35mm thick.  The sapphire crystal is a convex curved shape and double-sided anti-reflective coated:

The hinged hunter caseback with transparent sapphire glass displays the BVL 250 automatic movement:

One of the nice features of the hinged caseback that I really like is the fact that it opens out to a full 180 degrees.  Most other watches with a hunter caseback can only open out to 90 degrees but with the visual advantage of having the hinge hidden within the case:

The inside area of the hunter caseback is left blank to allow for custom engraving:

The closed caseback with the engraved signature of Mr. Sotirio Bulgari:

Closeup of the 'SB' monogramed crown which measures 5.5mm in diameter:

A closer look at the area where the Sotirio case meets the unique arched lugs.  These lugs are angled downward and helps fit better on smaller wrists:

Areas around the case and lugs are high polished.  It was difficult to capture a good picture of the watch since the gold was reflective and shiny:

The BVL 250 movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a double-barrel with a power reserve of 55 hours.  This was somewhat surprising as I was expecting a longer number of hours for this configuration.  The movement itself is 25.60 mm in diameter and 3.73 mm thick:

Thank you Ed for this report. It's so nice to finally see some live shots of the Sotirio. How was the fit on your wrist with the curved lugs? No wrist shot?

Fit was OK, it looked better on...

Hi Ping, It fit fine on my wrist, but I was a little bit scruffy (polo shirt, jeans and timberlands) and thought that the Sotirio looked better paired with a suit and tie. So I had this handsome gentleman from the Bulgari staff model it for us: Regards, E...

It's a reproduction of the original sign at Bulgari's shop in Rome. Regards, ED-209

Hi fai9al_429, I've been to both locations and without a doubt the Bulgari boutique at Crystals is definitely worth a visit. It's much larger than the one at the forum shops and the architecture is stunning. And the staff is great, they were friendly and ...
