  1 - Bulgari surpassed its goal for SAVE THE CHILDREN.

In 2009 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of its foundation, Bulgari chose to contribute to the cause of improving the futures for hundreds of thousands of underprivileged children around the world. The company promised to donate a minimum of €12 million to Save the Children between 2009 and 2011. The ambitious goal was reached before the end of 2011 and the collaboration has been extended.



Photographer Fabrizio Ferri and Chinese celebrity Li Xiaoran recently traveled to Yunnan province to see firsthand how Bulgari contributions have changed these children's lives. Here's a highlight video of the trip.

 

2 - Bulgari doesn't use "Conflict diamonds" in their jewelry.

"Conflict diamonds" or "Blood diamonds" are rough diamonds used by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments. Bulgari takes this issue very seriously and prevents these diamonds from becoming part of its inventory by buying only polished diamonds from trusted suppliers based in countries which have adhered to the Kimberley Process , a joint governments, industry and civil society initiative to reduce the spread of conflict diamonds by using an international certification scheme.



Bulgari has notified its suppliers that all diamonds polished after January 1, 2003 must be accompanied by a warranty stating that they do not sell conflict diamonds and the warranties received are retained by the Company for a five-year term. To further support the cause, on August 4th 2006 Bulgari became a member of the Council for Responsible Jewelry Practices, a non-profit organization founded in 2005 for the purpose of promoting responsible practices related to business ethics, social, human rights and environmental performance throughout the diamond and gold jewelry supply chains, from mine to retail. Since July 2004 the current standard training package designed for all employees includes a dedicated session on the conflict diamonds issue and the Kimberley Process.

 

3 - Bulgari watches make up 29% of the company's total turnover.

Bulgari's watches are produced under the company's Swiss subsidiary in Neuchatel, Bulgari Time S.A. It was founded in 1980 and has approximately 500 employees. The Bulgari watch collection consists of the following lines: Bulgari-Bulgari, Sotirio-Bulgari, Assioma, Astrale, B.Zero1, Daniel Roth, Rettangolo, Ergon, Gérald Genta, Serpenti and Diagono. Genuine Bulgari watches have a unique serial number that is registered with the company.



4 - Isabella Rossellini's art is on the lining of her Bulgari bags.

The bags have simple contemporary lines on the exterior-nothing too unconventional. The interior however, is a more unexpected, personal reflection of Rossellini's abandonment of conventionality. The fabric is printed with a single, eccentric motif: stylized snails inspired by Isabella's recent film project, Green Porno. Provocative, comedic and playful the short educational films are about the reproductive habits of the animal world. Rossellini conceived, produced, directed and interpreted the films which have been applauded at the Sundance, Berlin and Tribeca film festivals. The snail design motif is finely printed on the lining of the "Rossellini" bag, a personal touch, taken directly from the drawings and illustrations that fill Isabella's work notes.



5 - Venice Italy banned Julianne Moore's Bulgari ad.

The ad which shows a nude Moore covered up by lion cubs, handbags and jewelry was rejected from being posted as billboards in the city. Mayor Giorgio Orsoni called the image too racy and inappropriate for St. Mark's Square.

is doing its part for social good, even though 12 million would not meant much to its profit margin the couple of years. The Mayor finds the 2 cute cubs too racy??? ;p

Perhaps young cubs being corrupted.

i loved the moore ad those cubs r just so cute!!! not to argue saving the children is less important & purely from marketing perspective while there r less saving animals efforts led by big luxury brands it should channel & inspire more focused response f...

I wonder which cause would gain more positive praise from the public? Saving animals or children? I would argue the latter. I guess it's not surprising that companies will offer support as long as it doesn't infringe upon their normal mode of operation to...
