PRE-BASEL 2010

SERPENTI, Bulgari's enduring love story with Woman

Bulgari and Woman…

A long and eternal history, whose seeds were sown in the early 20th century and which continues to flourish today at the same intense pace. Despite the passing of time, nothing has arrived to trouble their complicity nor the great sensitivity for beauty shared by both.

This year, Bulgari expresses the unsurpassed talent that is the brand's mark of distinction with Serpenti , unveiling a watch that forgoes the conventional in favour of originality, which is both an elegant ornamental jewel and a masterpiece of the goldsmith's art. A creation that transcends epochs. That takes its cue from the innovative sources of beauty so dear to Bulgari, reinterpreted through an entirely holistic approach and an essential stylistic vision.

Serpenti celebrates the fusion of the snake with the Tubogas bracelet, the two iconic values that distinguish Bulgari. The form of the reptile, the symbol of eternal youth and immortality in mythological creatures, has been an integral part of the Italian jewellery universe since time immemorial and has regularly featured in the most prestigious of Bulgari's creations over the decades.

Bulgari continues to reinterpret its creative language according to a vision that is constantly renewed, masterfully combining the whole spectrum of artisan techniques - from jewellery to enamel, from the goldsmith's art to watchmaking - to give form to the timeless figure of the snake.

True to the label's iconic style, the expression of the aesthetic codes that have long guided the Italian jeweller, Serpenti reincarnates the essence itself of the values that make Bulgari one of the rare and authentically creative luxury brands.

Wrapped sensually yet playfully around the wrist, the Tubogas bracelet designed by Bulgari in the 1950s is still a unique piece today. The aesthetic signature and patient craftsmanship an attestation to the marque's rich wellspring of expertise, a close secret to which it alone holds the key. The pink gold strands – measuring five metres when wrapped once around the wrist or 10 metres for the double Serpenti – are the fruit of a long succession of preparatory and moulding processes before the final assemblage, using a procedure known exclusively to Bulgari.

A precious reference to the sinuous snake, the body of this exceptional strap extends naturally from the case of the watch, whose bezel is encrusted with 38 diamonds (0.29 cts) highlighted by the subtle contrast of the black opaline dial with satiné soleil decoration and the pink rubellite cabochon set in the crown.

Culminating in a final result matched solely by the passion that went into the crafting of a wrist bracelet so smooth, sleek and supple…just like a second skin.

More about the bracelet Tubogas technique

 By: MTF : January 27th, 2010-09:33
We'll need more information about the tubogas technique in future (no hurry! ) This is because the current Mrs MTF has a Tubogas bracelet (non-watch) that Bulgari said was out-of-production because it was a dying art. She got it some years back and it had...

I will do some research and get back to you on that. I'm curious about this technique myself. How often does your wife wear her bracelet? Is it as comfortable and smooth as they say?

Would like to see the Turbogas bracelet
