Blue chronograph hands ?

Jul 21, 2015,06:31 AM

Is there any precedence in Patek's line of watches ?

I think it's unlikely that Patek will do blue chronograph hands, for fear of following the likes of A.Lange & Sohn pieces, risking critique and falling in the shadows of ALS.
But to dream is fun and harmless and occasionally we do have some surprises.

Just my 2 cents.

Best dial/case colors combination: what do you think?

By: Mark in Paris : July 21st, 2015-04:52
Gentlemen, We have started discussing about what could the next 5170P look like in a recent post. This is the kind of thoughts (maybe "fantasy" is more suitable) we can have concerning many references not unveiled yet as the 5170 in Pt or RG, the 5270P et...

5170R...

 By: keks : July 21st, 2015-05:25
Personally think a bit of a shame that Patek decided to release a black dial 5170G in the same year as the 5370P. Visually too similar to be released together me thinks. Instead I would have loved to have seen a 5170R alongside the release of the 5370P. I...

It can look very nice depending on the dial color

By: Mark in Paris : July 21st, 2015-07:28
But there is also an additional detail which makes the blue hand interesting on this 1518: the blue moonphase disk. I've seen it oxidized or painted in grey, white, black or in white gold in the recent models but a blue can fit too, if not too shiny (whic...

RG case and black

By: Mark in Paris : July 21st, 2015-07:22
I have the same feeling that you express in your first paragraph. I was surprised to see 2 black dial chronograph references at once. There was maybe a reason as the 5370P will remain very rare, at a very low production volume, hence, it allows other cust...

I love the combination of G or P with salmon dial

 By: tempus : July 21st, 2015-08:11
like they did for the London exhibition with 5970G. By they way, can someone provide pics oft the 5970J with black dial the did for the London exhibition? Thanks in advance! Best Tempus

The Salmon with white metal is something many like here

and we could see an example lately with the 5250 Advanced Research. This is indeed a combination we haven't seen much really. As you are, I would be very curious to see these models from London on nice pictures. The ones I could see on the net are not rea...

Cream with a soft Rose Gold.

 By: TheMadDruid : July 21st, 2015-13:18
I know Patek put a great dial on an Annual Calendar quite a few years ago-can't remember the reference. And I like dials that almost match the case color, such as Voutilainen has done. But cream is my favorite.

This one

This is a great combination indeed

By: Mark in Paris : July 21st, 2015-14:50
but not only due to the dial and case but all the oxidized hands and applied markers too. A very rare unique combo and even reference (Advance Research). Great pictures as always CH', thank you :) Cheers, Mark

Yes! [nt]

5170P with this color scheme would be fantastic me thinks... : ...

By: Mark in Paris : July 22nd, 2015-08:54
It would be a very nice surprise and interesting model. I don't know if they will choose that move but they will succeed in making something quite unique, rare and original compared to what we see from traditional brands and which still looks fantastic. W...

This is a combo i like too.

I remember my 1815 in RG I liked quite much. The silvery dial used with white metals are often too cold and too grey for me and I regret the more opaline dial we usually find in RG watches. Furthermore, the RG reflects on the dial which brings something m...

dark blue or enamel in any colour. Best, Kari

I always liked blue

By: Mark in Paris : July 23rd, 2015-07:33
and a dark one with either RG (I saw this on a Voutilainen) or with white metal would look great and different from usual black or silver. A blue I loved from Patek was the 6000G's dial I could try lately and I made a post about non long ago. Concerning e...

Blue and white - it's my favourite

colour combination. It appears also in the Finnish (and Greece) flag. I played with the new 6000G. It's beautiful but for 5170P hopefully something even darker. Perhaps the same very dark blue as in their elusive London (5 pieces) 5070P. Such a watch woul...

So dark a blue dial would be great

By: Mark in Paris : July 23rd, 2015-07:44
but I'm not sure they'll go that far. At least it will be a "first" and it will be different from the blue dial references they launched recently (5124G, 5200G, 5270G), which is much lighter. Cheers, Mark

The blue in the new 5124G is really nice.

In fact so nice that I ordered the watch... Best, Kari

Yes I remember

By: Mark in Paris : July 23rd, 2015-12:29
I saw it today :) It has a very well made square movement, I thought they would have chosen one more basic. It looks very discreet, not show off at all, and the case's sides shape is something I like a lot.

I like blue dials...

 By: Fricks : July 23rd, 2015-10:34
.... so a 5270P with blue dial would be my choice. 5170P with blue is good too. Basically, their white gold is now grey gold, so it really works only with white/silver popping dial to contrast with the case. However there is something we can do to make ou...

5370p

 By: el1125 : July 23rd, 2015-21:44
For me came out perfect. It may also look cool with the same Plat case but with ENAMEL Blue dial. Possibly the same blue shade that's on the 5070p. Other cool combos would be platinum with White Enamel as well Rose gold with black enamel dial.

I agree with all your combos

By: Mark in Paris : July 24th, 2015-08:32
They would all look stunning. This leaves many choices for Patek to make the perfect move again! Thank you for your input El. Cheers, Mark

Blue dial and straps

By: Mark in Paris : July 24th, 2015-07:47
Blue dials are very nice and became much more famous since the 5070P. Now for the new one I imagine it is more likely to get a 5170P Blue dial from Patek rather than a 5270P as the blue dial already exists in blue. However, I think you have an excellent s...

impossible...

 By: Fricks : July 24th, 2015-15:26
... to see a 5270P in blue of course, we are left with the black dial. Now we can always get the Wg and the P and swap dials :))

That's a solution! [nt]

Steel case with black enamel case would be terrific.

But since it doesn't exist, for me the 5370P is the next best thing. ;) Best, Nicolas
