Concerned about escalating maintenance costs and I like to buy new watches, I like to start my own story with each watch I buy. Makes it more personal to me. [nt]

Breitling Superocean II

 By: Stenorealty : August 2nd, 2016-15:21
Why does Breitling not get any love on these forums? This seems like a very good alternative to Rolex Sub, Omega PO and the like. The service costs are a lot less and at 500 meters it's a beast. Thoughts?...

I've seen love out here for Breitlings before. I've even expressed some love for

Breitling out here. Personally their new models are too big for me. If I went for one of theirs, it would be vintage, and that may happen one of these days.

Only beacuse you asked....

Breitling generally has ETA movements inside them, not all, but generally. They are not known to be especially modified or upgraded. (not saying it's true, but how they are perceived.) They are dressed up entry level ETA watches, and VERY, VERY pricey for...

Well, for me, Superocean is this...

Thoughts on the Superocean Heritage 42?

Enter your post text ...

Not a bad looking watch at all, but when you have the vintage Superocean in mind...

Which were really special, this new one lost a lot of its originality... In my opinion, of course. Best, Nicolas

Why not putting your money on a vintage watch?

There are a lot of under rated watches which are worth the same price than the two you are thinking about...

That is a fair point. [nt]

The dial gives you seizures

The amount of information on the Breitling dials is mind-numbing. It's counter-productive to the idea of pilot's watches, which is supposed to make you read important information at a glance. Breitling for Bentley is even worse.

Their are champs and chumps..

in every brand. You may be able to find one that works for you. I find this particular Cosmonaute to my liking and it works like a charm, though it may require some practice to read the time. 41mm, Lemania manual wind and one of the nicest bracelets I've ...

I have had several Breitlings and loved them

But only the Aerospace has "stuck". I take it on all my travels but I think people are tired of seeing it here. Cazalea ...

Never too much of the Aerospace ;)

It does make for an excellent travel watch, I agree!

It is probably the price to quality ratio

I own a half gold Chronomat (Pic taken before recent polishing job) It is a nice looking watch with some great presence and does feel hefty on the wrist. But for the price it retails (i did not pay retail) for, there are so many other watches you could bu...

I could see myself with a Navitimer

Especially a vintage example. And I\'ve thought of an Aerospace with its high-accuracy Quartz movement. But I don\'t like the cardinal tabs, or the angled bracelet links, or too much polish. And if a case is going to be thick, I want a design that gives i...

Used to love them

 By: KMII : August 11th, 2016-03:39
And my Aerospace still gets used in spare time - really like the design (and the old 40mm one is a good size). As for the new ones, they are simply too large for me. I like the looks of the Transocean but not the size and the 38mm one I do like still has ...

Back then, everything was better ...

NOT. At least when studying the development of Schneider-Breitling after 1982, we have to state that quality appeared not to be of major concern for the company. Well, on the other hand, it was not a flourishing company, and the first step to improve its ...
